American Idol
I loved, loved, loved Ace’s performance of Father Figure a few weeks ago on AI.
His last two performances have been mediocre, but I don’t effin care, he’s hot. I have the Father Figure performance on TiVo and I watch it approximately twice a night….every night.
Here’s who I like:
Mandisa- she’s very talented and I really like her personality
Chris Daughtry- he’s cool and can sing
Paris- She’s good….her voice annoys me, but she’s talented
Taylor Hicks- he’s different and good. He’s like the bastard child of Jay Leno and Rod Stewart.
Lisa- she’s very talented, but I don’t think she has a niche following
Ace- he’s hot and has a good personality, but he’s not consistenly good. If he would just sing Father Figure every week, he’d win hands down 
Kelli Pickler- she’s fun, but not as good vocally as some of the others. She’s got a good story, though, and people really like her.
Everyone else is OK….none of them are consistently good. I think the winner will be Chris Daughtry. He’s got the look and he can sing. I think America is ready for a rocker to win and he’s just the one to do it.
I also think that contestants could save themselves a lot of heartache if they just consult me prior to picking their song choice. It’s unbelievable to me why they pick some of the songs they do….my jaw drops when they start a performance. I think the song choice last week was HORRIBLE. I also think last week America voted well when they got rid of the basketball chic. She had awful stage presence and her song choice was less than desirable. I’m glad she’s gone.
Okay, so I just finished watching tonight’s episode, so I feel I can give a better opinion of these final 12. Being a religious watcher of “The” American Idol since the very first episode of the very first season, I feel I am amply qualified to make judgments on these people! I would first like to say that I have yet to find anyone in any of the seasons I have enjoyed as much as Kelly Clarkson! I love her…even in “From Justin to Kelly.” Although I did love me some Bo Bice…he should have won!
P.S. There will actually be a new episode of Veronica Mars on this week!!! Guest star - Kristin Cavallari (aka Nick Lachey’s secret girlfriend, or the bitchy, star of Laguna Beach “The Real OC”)
I would also like to get out of the way the fact that my opinions will be biased towards Katharine McPhee and Taylor Hicks…because they are my favorites
So…here’s what I think (cause I know you’ve been waiting with anticipation for my posting response). Also, I direct some of my quotes straight to the contestants…just go with it!
Ace - Jessica, he’s not that cute! At first he appears cute, and then you realize…he’s not!
I will admit though, I was loving Father Figure. Everything else he has sung…sucked. Also, Ace…the beanie is not cute, nor your niche, please take it out of your pocket! No one cares!
Bucky - Why are you still here!?! Although I did actually enjoy his performance tonight of Superstition (I was planning on hating it before he sang). Please don’t take that last sentence as an indication I want him to continue singing on my television for the next 11 weeks!
Chris - You’re a rocker…we get it already. Congratulations on picking the one Stevie Wonder song that has been sung by a rock band, singing the rock band version, and then getting kudos from the judges (who secretly want you to win because they feel bad Bo didn’t win last year and they need a white guy to win this year) to think you “made the song your own and were original.” You suck…and I hate you!
Also, the sculpted side burn things…not cute!
Elliott - oh…if I were only as lucky as Stevie Wonder and didn’t have to look at you, I might actually enjoy you. You look like Mr. Tumnus from “Chronicles of Narnia.” He has a nice voice, but I just CANNOT get past how non-attractive he is! I know, you wear an insulin pump, I don’t feel bad for you…and will not vote for you because of it!
Katharine - I love you! Except the first song you sang when there were 24 and you were doing that crazy Taylor twitching thing! She is the best vocally in the entire competition, which by the last 3 seasons’ standards means she won’t win!
Kellie - No one cares your daddy’s in prison. You will not get the sympathy votes all the way to becoming “The” American Idol. You will actually have to sing well after the next couple of rounds. Your cuteness and daddy in prison story will only get you so far. You are not good! Although I did enjoy her performance last week.
Kevin - Oh how we don’t love the lisp! I found myself enjoying the performance this evening simply because it was hilarious. He is so out of place in this competition, but I would like him to stay for just a couple more episodes because his utter dorkiness and huge “five”head make me laugh. And…because his mere existance totally annoys my husband.
Lisa - If she wasn’t so insanely boring when she sang I might actually enjoy her. She is a 40 year old droid in a 16 year old’s body.
Mandisa - She reminds me of every other fat, black girl that’s every been on this show. She over-sings everything…and I don’t like it. Contrary to popular opinion, I did NOT enjoy “I’m Every Woman” last week. Why do all these stupid female contestants every year try to do Whitney? Ladies…get a clue. Unless you get doped up on crack and let Bobbie Brown beat the crap out of you…you will never sound like Whitney. Please stop trying!!!
Melissa - Why are you still here? When did you stop smoking? Have you stopped smoking? When are you leaving?
Paris - I loved Paris in the audition round when she was there with her mommy and grandmama and sang the jazz stuff. Since then, I don’t look forward to her singing nearly as much as I look forward to what her hair extensions are going to look like. Why does she insist upon doing her hair like a 60 year old woman? You’re flippin’ 17 years old. What’s wrong with you!?!
Taylor - I love him! I do wish the ticks were on a slightly more non-existant level. I enjoy his voice and think he is more vocally sound than any other guy. Therefore, he will not win.

Glad to see America was also wondering why Melissa was still there. Thank you America. I’ll be anxiously awaiting Bucky’s sendoff next week!
Jess, keep your fingers crossed Ace can somehow twist Father Figure into a 50’s Themed song!

Just in case you haven’t gotten enough of Ace on American Idol, he has infiltrated the UPN network and some show called “Half and Half” (I have no idea what the show is about, but it has the lady from “Gimme a Break” on it). I’m not sure how he’s able to leave American Idol to film this role, but he guest stars on the April 3 episode.
Also, Joey Lawrence guest stars in this same episode. Enjoy!
