Got a final call from my brother this morning just before they boarded the plane for Kuwait. I felt torn; it sounded like he wanted to talk more, but I know he and his wife had limited time together, so I wanted him to spend it with her.
His wife posted her first entry on the family blog. It’s bitter sweet. Very real.
So, as we speak, Soldier is on his way to the Middle East. Keep he and the wife in your thoughts and prayers.

What a lazy day. I’m almost embarrassed to admit what I have (or rather, have not) done today.
We originally planned on attending our date with God this morning, but our water heater had a different plan in store for us. We have zero hot water. I’m fairly certain the pilot light went out on the water heater. Our showers yesterday were luke warm, at best, and our gas fireplace didn’t work the other night when we tried lighting it when friends were over.
We knew then it was a problem with the gas. We’ll call the plumber tomorrow. Until then,we’re waiting for Bennie to get home so we can crash at their place and use all of their hot water!
I’m really not liking my current blog theme, but my Pixel magic software hasn’t arrived yet and I’m sick of semi-designing a new site.
Rather than spending time on a new theme, Hubs and I found a new show on TV! While in KY last weekend, his sister, AL, and his brother, Doug, both suggested we watch it and see if we get into it. Our new favorite show is….Gossip Girl (on the CW). OK, well, maybe it’s not Hubs new favorite show, but he endured it with me
In addition to watching 4 episodes of GG, we also caught up on Kid Nation (Taylor needs to leave!) and Grey’s Anatomy.
Also talked with my brother on the phone. He leaves tomorrow for Iraq. It was great talking with him and of course I cried. And cried. I’m really proud of him!
The only really productive thing I did today was make chili. And, to be honest, I make the chili the day before, so I actually made it last night. Which means….I’ve done NOTHING productive today.
And. I. Love. It.
Before chiling making last night, we went to the movies with Matt and saw Rendition. The movie was pretty good, but I was Soooooo disappointed that Reese and Jake weren’t in ANY scenes together! HELLO! Who puts two of Hollywood’s hottest stars in the same movie, but neglects to put them in the same scenes? Bogus. Totally bogus.
Doopers is doing well. He got snipped on Thursday. The vet told us we had to take it easy with him for 5-7 days following the procedure, but Coop acts like nothing has happened! He’s running around, jumping up on things, and speed racing up and down the stairs. He’s doing everything the vet said he shouldn’t be doing. Good Coop. Thats my good doggy!
Alright, time to go back to doing absolutely nothing, except show watching! And crying!

It’s Friday! Yea!
I hope that my birthday present from Bennie arrives today. It’s a digital scrapbooking program that, among other things, will allow me to design my own blog….I can’t wait! If it comes today, then I’ll spend all weekend working on it. We’ve been out of town the last two weekends, so it’ll be nice to stay home for a change.
My brother leaves for Iraq on Monday and we’ve started a family blog as a way to keep up with him. If you want to follow the stories of an Army Private in Iraq, check it out (thebigmacs.blogspot.com) . I can’t believe he leaves in a few days. I’m so proud of him and his wife, Chelsey! Godspeed my brother!
Coop got snipped yesterday so the poor little guy is dragging today. Picking him up was so sad; I swear he had this look on his face like, “what did I ever do to you to deserve this?”
Time to start the day. I’m tired, but need to get going.

Love me some Nickel Creek.
Its too bad that this is their Farewell tour.
Not too bad that we’re super close to the stage

Dear Time Magazine,
While I appreciate your efforts on your lead story this week, “Why Breast Cancer is spreading around the world,” I cannot be more disappointed in your lack of research and fact finding.
Breast self exams don’t prevent cancer. Mammograms don’t prevent cancer.
VITAMIN D PREVENTS CANCER.
Do the research. (you can click here for said research)
Do the research. (you can click here for more research)
Do the research. (you can click here for more research)
Write articles that can save lives.
Next time, in addition to focusing on current treatments, you should also focus on prevention.
Thanks,
Your Partner in Health,
Me
P.S. This is your heads up that for your March cover story on Colon Cancer Awareness, you should start your research now on how Vitamin D significantly reduces your chance of developing colon cancer (some studies suggest it reduces your risk by 76%).

Hubs and I had a fantastic day today! We went out shopping early this morning and got a few things for his office. We also picked up some under garments for him.
Then….we spent the day in the country with our friend Susie and her family. We went fishing, went on a motorcycle ride, played with Emma (4 weeks old), let Coop swim in the lake, and fished more!
It was such a relaxing and fun day. We loved spending so much time with Coop, letting him run around in the country and watching him swim.

These are much harder to use than one would think….

How do I know? I tried them on at the mall last night. I know, you’re probably wondering what in the heck I was doing at the mall (since I NEVER go there)….Hubs bought me my birthday present:

I’ve been wanting a new watch that shows the date for a long time now and I finally got one! And it’s a Skagen! I love it (and I got to pick it out). Thanks Hubs!
Back to the shoes…..
I’ve seen the little ones rollin’ around on these shoes for some time now and got to thinking about how cool it would be for me to roll into the grocery store, grab my gallon of milk and roll on out. Well, last night I wasn’t doing much rollin’. Those are really difficult to do! It’s not a natural position to pull up the front of your feet (in order to enact the rollers), so it’s difficult for adults to grasp. The gal at the store said that kids pick it up very quickly because they have more natural balancing than adults.
I was pretty disappointed when I couldn’t get the hang of it. I looked like a complete fool trying to walk fast and seemlessly transition into a glide. Ah well. Guess I can’t be good at everything.
Today is a day of….more shoppping! Hubs needs a few more things for his office…..and some personal items. Like….socks that have fabric over the toes and heels.
I also want Smallville Season Six, but doubt thats in my immediate future. I’ve been getting a lot of good stuff lately and I think Hubs is starting to lay down the smack on my shopping.
