Addendum: It’s a science!
Made some more “green” errr….brown…smoothies tonight.
Strawberries, apples, kiwi and kale:

I’m going to spend some time tonight looking for other green smoothie recipes- see what other people are mixin’.
And I’m soooo glad people can comment again! I didn’t realize how many people were getting error messages before. Bring ‘em on!

Tonight we had just the right ingredients to make green smoothies. Flip Flop would be proud!
I’m sooooooo proud of hubs, who tried this without ANY complaints.
Kale, bananas, and strawberry smoothies

I take that back, Hubs did say, “I hope you get all the kale.”
Hehe.
They were pretty good, not as sweet as we wanted, but I didn’t allow us to add any sugar (or ice cream, which was Hubs request).
Hubs initially said we shouldn’t ruin a good fruit smoothie by adding kale because he thought kale didn’t have any nutritional value until/unless it’s boiled. But, according to Wiki, thats not true:
Kale is considered to be a highly nutritious vegetable, with powerful antioxidant properties and is anti-inflammatory.[1]
Kale is very high in beta carotene, vitamin K, vitamin A, vitamin C, lutein and zeaxanthin and reasonably rich in calcium.
We’ll definitely be making green smoothies more often; it’s a great way to help ensure we’re getting our daily allowance of fruits and veggies.
Tomorrow we’ll try banana-kiwi kale.
On the 5k front, I repeated week two of my training and it went pretty well. The 90 second runs weren’t too difficult. Weather dependent, I take Cooper with me. He’s a good running buddy. I’m hoping the weather starts cooperating more- one day it’s 70 and the next it’s 32….that makes it very difficult to plan my training. But, I’m sticking with it and have run an estimated 18 miles in 3 weeks.
Today I was able to do of my all-time favorite activities…. sit in the oversized chair at the bookstore with a strawberry frappucinno in one hand and a good book in the other. It was raining outside and I could hear the spatter of the drops hitting the window from my chair.
I spent most of the time reading Wordpress for Dummies (which I ended up buying) and The Biggest Loser book. I once read a follow up article to The Biggest Loser series and it sounds like some of the methods the producers used to get results were insane. According to the article, participants often spent HOURS the night before a weight in roasting in a sauna to get rid of excess water weight. I’m pretty sure the article also said the participants weren’t allowed to drink water the day before or the day of the weight in…I’m not sure I believe that, though. Anyway, I picked up the book and browsed through it to see the before and after pics. I put the book back, though. I never intended on buying it, just wanted to see the pics.
Before I left, I also picked up CSS Web Design for Dummies and an anxiety and phobia workbook for Hubs (for his job).
I’m making an effort to read more, so maybe the web design books will help keep my interest.
Speaking of reading, I’m outtie. Hannah Montana is calling my name (LOVE that show)!

After 10 very stressful minutes of errors, we’re back up and running.
I haven’t played around too much on the new version, but it doesn’t look very different (from the posting side, anyway).
But, my friends can post comments, so YEAH!
Maybe this weekend, I’ll get a new theme up…it’s Spring, so I need a fresh new look to liven up this place.
For now, we’re finishing up High School Musical 2- Dance Along on Disney and relaxing

I canceled all of my plans for tonight. I called off the red carpet event I previously planned on attending; the phones are unplugged from the wall; Hubs is consumed with March Madness on the xbox; Doopers is having his way with a braided bone.
I’m committed.
My #1 priority tonight is to upgrade Wordpress to the next version (2.3.3) so people can freaking comment!
I’m soooo frustrated! People are getting errors when trying to leave me love via the comments.
I always get so nervous when backing up my database (I know very little about MySql and PHP)….but I remember the actual upgrade going well last time.
Hopefully, Lackadaisical Motivation will come out better on the flip side…
Here we go *cross your fingers*

Oh. My.
Laura from I’m an Organizing Junkie linked to me. Thats like…HUGE! And, it’s from a post I did back in 2006.
Here’s my website traffic for the last 30 days, take note of yesterdays hits…..237!

Wow.
It’s good timing, too, because I’ve wanted to post another efficiency post for a while, but didn’t have time to gather the goods until now.
Our mud room is probably my favorite room in our house in terms of organization. I know where everything is in that room. It’s the room thats between the garage and the kitchen. Hubs and I always come into the house through the garage, so I did my best to organize this room so we’d have a place to dump our things when we got home. I also know I’d need a place to put things that needed to leave the house.
Here’s my Grab-it-and-go shelf. I keep my purse here so I always know where it is- anything I have to return to a friend, need to take into work, or need to mail also goes on this shelf.

The drawers pull out and I store all kinds of goodies in them, but mostly my iPod running gear and winter accessories (scarves, hats, gloves, etc).

I recently added note cards to the organizational theme of the room. The door into the room from the garage is a metal door, so magnets work very well to hang my notes.
I started by purchasing a cloth pencil bag that already had magnets in it, then I loaded the bag up with a few pens, a marker and notecards. I hung the bag on the back of the door, so as we’re leaving the house, we can see any notes we left for ourselves.

I made some note cards that I know we’ll use often, such as “Board Meeting today” or “Cooper Camp today!”

The other day, I needed the Trash day reminder AND I had to remember to take in the cupcakes I made for a friend’s birthday, so I added another magnet and keep it on the door:

It’s great having a reminder system like this thats so…in my face! It works really well for me.
Maybe in 2010, Laura will link to this post

I got to “see” Soldier tonight! He was using a webcam at an internet tent in Iraq. It was 4:08am when we started talking. Poor guy!
I hope we can do this more often! I had so much fun seeing him and hearing stories.

He even posed for a few shots.
He sounds like he’s doing well. He’s re-enlisting while over there, so he’ll wear the Army green for a few more years.
Love you buddy! And thank you, thank you, thank you for your service and sacrifice.
We love you!
